I'm here to expand on the mechanics of the claymore/long sword being in the game, so it can be used against mobs and players in a fun way.
Crafting:
Crafted the same way as a sword but placed diagonally in the crafting table.
Combat:
Its damage pere tier would go like this;
Wood: 7 Gold: 7
Stone: 8 Copper: 8
Iron: 9
Diamond: 10
Netherite: 11
Special abilities:
I looked up its use and it turns out, way back, the weapon was used to sweep a great area to hit as many targets as possible and to maintain a certain distance with threats.
So in Minecraft, the weapon would have a wider sweeping zone than the sword (having 3x1 blocks of hitting zone) but reach less than the spear (having 1x4.5 blocks of hitting zone). The claymore would have 2.5x3 blocks of hitting zone when sweeping but would be slower than the axe.
Since Its a two handed weapon it won't need to be paired with a chield, it will have the ability to charge a sweep holding the "use" button, and when released it would deal critical damage including the sweeping zone and extra knockback.
Exclusive enchantment;
Its exclusive enchantment would be called "Shockwave". After releasing the charged attack it would send a croissant moon shaped shockwave 3 blocks in front of the charged sweep. It would inflict half of the weapon's damage and would increase by 0.5 per level (it has 3 levels).
