To provide a true black wood counterpart to the new Pale Oak, Minecraft should introduce an "Ancient Ebony" tree based on the real-world Gaboon Ebony. This feature would connect Archaeology, the Sniffer, and the game's focus on environmental conservation.
Archaeology: Players can find "Dormant Ebony Seeds" by brushing Suspicious Sand and Gravel in various structures (Desert Wells, Ocean Ruins, Trail Ruins, etc.). This makes the seeds a rare "lost" treasure of the world.
The Sniffer: Once a dormant seed is found, the Sniffer is used to "revive" the species. The Sniffer can sniff out the proper soil to dig up a viable Ebony Sapling, giving the mob a major new gameplay purpose for builders.
True Black Palette: This provides a jet-black plank and log set, perfect for high-contrast builds alongside the Pale Oak.
Realistic Detail: Like the real-world endangered tree, the log features a light-grey outer bark with a deep, black heartwood. Stripping the log reveals the dark interior.
By making the wood an archaeological find rather than a common tree, it educates players about endangered species and the value of bringing rare nature back to life.
