Summary:
Parrots currently cannot breed, which makes them feel more like decorations than real animals. This suggestion adds a simple breeding and nesting system that fits Minecraft’s existing mechanics.
How it would work:
• Parrots can be bred using Mango Slices.
• When bred, parrots search for the nearest parrot nest (natural or player-crafted).
• One parrot lays 3–5 eggs in the nest.
• Eggs always hatch, but only 50% hatch into parrot chicks.
• When eggs are successfully laid, the player receives a small amount of XP.
Nest behavior:
• Wild parrots defend their nests by hissing and pecking if the player approaches too quickly.
• Each peck deals ¼ of a heart of damage with no armor.
• Parrots calm down once the player backs away or moves slowly.
Why this fits Minecraft:
• Other passive mobs already breed and lay eggs (chickens, turtles, frogs).
• This gives parrots more purpose while keeping damage low and non-lethal.
• Nesting makes jungles feel more alive without forcing players to farm parrots.
This post focuses only on parrot breeding and nesting behavior. Other jungle features (such as mango trees) could support this system in the future.
