Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Rock Salt

Salt would be a new resource found as Rock Salt in large clusters across all caves, with extra generation in deserts, badlands, stony shores, beaches, and new Salty Lakes. Rock Salt drops 3–5 Salt. Players can also get Salt by filling a cauldron with saltwater from oceans and heating it with a campfire or magma block; after 1.5 minutes it evaporates and gives 6–12 Salt. Nine Salt crafts into a Block of Salt, which can also be used to build a Salt Golem with a pumpkin. Pink Salt appears rarely on mountaintops as a stronger version. Salt can season foods for small buffs or nerfs. Placing Salt or Pink Salt creates white or pink Redstone-like dust that works as a weak, short-range conductor; Pink Salt reaches slightly farther, allowing compact circuits without replacing redstone dust. Saltwater cauldrons let players control copper oxidation: dunk up to 32 copper blocks to increase oxidation by one stage per dunk, and the cauldron empties after 32 uses. This system adds exploration, new Redstone options, and a balanced way to age copper quickly.

    also, maybe certain hostile mobs won't be able to cross salt lines

    I have two further or at least compatible ideas:
    1. A salt pillar block, to compliment quartz and quartz pillars.
    2. If it is ever decided that the Savanna (unsure of spelling ) biome is indeed updated, like Mojang said might happen; the other comment about mob salt lines would compliment the possibility of adding termites.
