Part XII expands Minecraft’s long-term exploration loop with lightweight player settlements and frontier outposts that grow naturally through gameplay—not town-building or NPC management. These features deepen survival progression without turning Minecraft into a city simulator.
Frontier Outposts:
Players can craft simple outpost kits placed like structures. Outposts act as small, functional “anchors” in distant regions without replacing bases. Variants include:
• Watchpost – small lookout with mapboard and beacon torch radius (reduces hostile spawn chance slightly).
• Pack Camp – llama hitching post, supply crates, repair rack.
• Trail Cabin – respawn bed, storage loft, and trail marker chest.
Outpost Upgrades:
Outposts level up through use—not by spending resources. Frequent visits unlock:
• Better mapboards that reveal local landmarks.
• Packhorse llamas that increase chest space and follow trail markers.
• Simple cosmetic improvements (lanterns, crates, signs).
Trail Markers:
Craftable markers guide pack llamas and highlight paths on maps, connecting outposts into a small exploration network. They do not reveal unexplored terrain—only stabilize routes players have established.
Frontier settlements create progression through travel, exploration, and smart utility—not automation or NPC building. Part XIII coming next.
