The Copper Age drop changed the lighting system in Minecraft, causing all block light to emit a much warmer wash over their surroundings than previously. This change was not enjoyed by everyone, because it makes many old builds in players' worlds look bad. At the same time, this change puts a cap on our future creativity, as all builds must now either be seen with night vision/fullbright (losing the depth that lighting provides), rely on skylight rather than block light, or suffer a powerful orange tint.
I propose reverting these changes, returning all existing sources of block light to the neutral tones we're accustomed to, so that our builds and the vibrant colors of Minecraft can really shine.
But… colored lighting is really cool! So, to make up for this reversion, I propose adding a new class of colored lighting blocks (maybe dyed?), which emit a strong wash relevant to their color, and which can be crafted in survival mode.
With these changes, the new lighting system would go from hampering our builds and limiting our creative expression, to enhancing them by giving us more control over the lighting our builds are cast in, all while keeping the neutral lighting from prior versions as an accessible option for survival mode players.
(This sort of thing has been suggested in the past, but I believe only before Minecraft really played with colored light. Now that the lighting engine does play with colored light, this suggestion is much more relevant.)
