I first need to say that normal item frames should be ignored by copper golems. People use item frames to signify a group, the chest shouldn't then be limited to that item.
I am proposing 2 types of copper item frame, these apply filters to the chests/containers they're applied to, chests/containers can have multiple attached.
- Normal. This matches the item exactly although ignoring durability and most NBT data (different potions).
- Enhanced. This matches variants, so stone bricks also includes mossy, cracked, and chiseled, all wool (items that differ by colour, so also terracotta, concrete, concrete powder, etc), waxed/unwaxed, log/stripped log/wood/stripped wood, sticky/non-sticky, soul fire/normal fire, apple/golden apple/E golden apple, armour of the same material, all potions, etc.
Additionally I would like to see quad item frames, both for added functionality but also aesthetics (mixed containers can show mixed items). Priority for item placement is [normal > normal quad > enhanced > enhanced quad], so variants don't claim items when you say you want it there, and quads can be used for overflow.
I feel that this system is intuitive, it's opt-in so people who don't want it don't have it just because they use an item frame. Players don't have to look up guides on how to set things up efficiently, and no redstone for controlling item quantities, and chests can be emptied without breaking things. There's no need for loads of copper golems, 1 is all you need, more if you fancy it.
