All zombies should just have a status effect that makes them zombified green undead burn in the sun and heal from harming effect, and they would all be neutral towards each other.
and most importantly the effect can just spread to different mobs like how zombies can infect villagers and turn them into zombie villagers when they slay them.
or the way Piglins become zombified in the overworld could just be an effect inflicted on them in the dimension, maybe slightly different because they're neutral and don't burn in the Sun.
The way piglin are given a dimensional effect could definitely also be used in other ways when it's coded in.
so instead of zombies being entirely different mobs, it's just a status effect that is continuously active and contagious to certain other mobs.
by making zombification an effect it opens up the possibility of all mobs becoming zombified more easily even if it's not implemented.
as well as the implications of players becoming infected with the effect.
and because it's just an effect it can be cured and reversed, with a weakness potion and enchanted Golden Apple.
so maybe undead players could be a thing and it's just like another game mode that is also an effect.
or when any player dies from a zombie they have the choice to respawn and leave behind a regular zombie with their items, or they can respawn as an infected undead player where they died.
