Black Oxidized Iron blocks, to pair with copper.
In real life, when certain iron alloys get put under intense heat, they gain a jet-black stained finish.
So I suggest, Black Oxide Iron blocks, with the same mechanics as copper blocks. The main difference being, for Iron to oxidize, the blocks need to be placed near an extreme heat source. There's a variety of ways it could work, whether that be blast furnaces, lightning strikes, being lit on fire, or my favorite, naturally oxidizing by itself when in the Nether.
With these new blocks, they could also add new variants of iron blocks that already exist with copper, such as grates, cut iron, and slabs.
There's already quite a few black blocks in the game, so to differentiate, the oxidation could give it some subtle blue undertones, as seen on smithing tables (which are also made with iron).
Stage 1- The original white-gray texture (maybe even updated a bit to give it screws, like copper)
Stage 2 - Similar to the color on Iron trims/hoppers
Stage 3 - Same color as anvils and cauldrons
Stage 4 - Final stage. Same color as smithing tables and iron chains.
This next bit is just for fun, but a potential fix for iron being pretty expensive to craft without a farm, is that the "Cut Iron" variant cannot be turned back into ingots. This makes Cut Iron viable for pre-generated structures, while also being an easy way to collect a bunch of it, similarly to trial chambers. Maybe like a Nether Trial chamber? :)
