Gold finally shines again! The Gold Rush Update gives new purpose to one of Minecraft’s oldest materials, expanding mining, crafting, and exploration in a grounded way similar to how Copper evolved.
Gold Veins: Large gold formations generate below Y-32 in badlands and mountains, mixed with a new block called Quartzite. Veins include occasional raw gold blocks, encouraging deeper exploration.
Quartzite Blocks: Decorative stone with subtle shimmer; can be polished or gilded for building.
Sieve Tool: Crafted with sticks, wood, and a Gold Mesh. Used on gravel or river sand to pan for nuggets, clay, fossils, and rare Old Coins.
Old Coins: Tradeable with villagers or craftable into decorative Coin Blocks.
Gold Detector: Crafted with copper, gold, and redstone. Emits a redstone pulse when gold ore is nearby.
Prospector Huts: Small abandoned shacks in badlands with loot like sieves and coins.
Prospector Villager: Uses the Gold Detector as a workstation and trades gold items, quartzite, and treasure maps.
Gold Tools: Now mine soft blocks 25% faster than iron, keeping their low durability but giving them real use.
This update rewards explorers, restores value to gold, and fits perfectly with Minecraft’s grounded survival style.
