I believe that, despite being a very positive addition, the current functionality of the Copper Golem could be optimized to make it much more useful in item storage and sorting systems
Current Issue
The Copper Golem currently searches randomly among nearby chests that already contain a copy of the item it is holding. This can be inefficient, as the golem wastes time searching through multiple containers
Proposed Solution
I suggest implementing a mechanic that allows the Copper Golem to remember the specific location of the containers to which it has assigned an item type. This way, if the golem obtains that same item again, it would go directly to the assigned chest instead of performing a random search.
Proposed Mechanism (Using the Book and Quill):
I propose that, upon using (right-click/trigger) a Book and Quill while sneaking (shift) on a Copper Chest, the book becomes "attached" to the chest.
Effect: This will allow the golem to "write down" where each item goes. If the Copper Chest receives items that the Copper Golem has previously organized/stored, the golem will go directly to the assigned chest instead of searching chest by chest. This also means that the chest maintains the "memories," providing a valid in-game reason for the player to add more Copper Golems that will instantly know where to go with certain items.
Cost/Balance: Since the Book and Quill is a relatively inexpensive item, I propose that it is not recoverable when the chest is broken
