Allow the minecraft:icon component to support conditional icon selection based on item states/variant or queries (e.g., charged, pulling).
This would make it possible to show different item icons in the inventory or GUI — similar to how entity render_controllers work for dynamic models.
This feature would let creators design more dynamic and immersive items that visually reflect their current state or gameplay context.
For example:
showing a charged bow or crossbow icon when ready to fire,
making a pickaxe look worn or cracked as its durability decreases,
turning a magic staff’s icon blue when charged with energy,
Such flexibility would make the Bedrock add-on system far more expressive, allowing item icons to naturally reflect their function and condition in the game world.
