The current enchanting system relies almost entirely on bookshelves, which makes early game progress feel repetitive — grind cows and sugarcane for an hour, then instantly unlock end-game enchantments. To make enchanting more dynamic and rewarding, I propose a multi-block enhancement system, where rare and thematic blocks increase the table’s power or unlock new effects.
Instead of only bookshelves, players could surround their enchantment table with unique blocks found throughout the world, each contributing differently. For example:
-
Bookshelves – Basic enchanting power (early game)
-
Amethyst Blocks – Improve magical efficiency or “luck” modifiers
-
Brewing Stand – Unlock potion-linked enchantments
-
Netherite Block – Boosts enchantment strength
-
Beacon or Dragon Egg – Grants access to rare “ancient” enchantments
The table’s detection radius should also increase, allowing more creative and expansive designs.
This would encourage exploration and natural progression — transforming enchanting into a true tech tree rather than a static system. It blends adventure, creativity, and progression into one of Minecraft’s most magical features.
