I know it would be a bit complicated
But mojang should seriously add a happiness bar to villagers since they are technically like humans in the game
There is already a small implementation of a trade value fluctuations to villagers
According to how you treat them and how high or low the demand is
If you hit , damage a villager or kill a villager infront of one (only in java edition , bedrock for some reason doesn't have it implemented) they will raise their prices
If you trade too much (both on java and bedrock)
With them it will cause them to raise prices to adjust for the high demand (like real life inflation)
If you make them run out of stock
You have to wait for them to restock
But there is not a detailed "happiness bar" or a happiness index for villagers
Like raising or lowering prices based on their happiness
If they are happy with the player they will reduce the price (small implementation ie the player winning a raid and getting the hero of the village effect but not a dedicated one)
According to how confined they are or how much space there is available
The environment provided
Etc
Yes it would make the game a bit complicated
But it will prevent players from exploiting them
Confining them into locked spaces
Just to trade
And actually encourage players into treating them well like actual human beings of the game and be rewarded in doing so
With more valuable trades
And would encourage them to unleash their creativity
Into building well structured utopias!
