Hello everyone:
Based on what I saw in the trailer for the new drop, I came up with an idea to give the Sniffer a new mechanic. Today, the effort of exploring ocean monuments and reviving them is only rewarded with two decorative plants; it's an attractive feature but one with limited utility that doesn't do justice to their imposing presence.
So how can we improve it?
First: allow them to be ridden. They wouldn't compete with horses in terms of speed; their movement would be slower, and their large size could provide slight resistance to attack recoil, while also offering a sense of weight and presence.
The second and most notable proposal: intuitive tracking mechanics. When mounted, the Sniffer would take an audible breath and display a sniffing animation that increases in frequency and intensity as we approach an underground object. This creates an interactive “hot/cold” dynamic that rewards the player's attention and facilitates the search for relevant finds.
And what could it find?
- New decorative objects: in addition to the two current flowers, adding several types would encourage creativity and customization.
- Hidden archaeological structures and treasure chests: this would make the search more organic and prevent us from overlooking discoveries.
- Valuable objects: surface rewards, similar to those detected by metal detectors, which add practical utility to tracking
