THE IDEA:
Minecarts! what minecarts?
love them or hate them, they are neglected, and depreciated
I think they still have a purpose to serve, the Minecraft rail system is flawed, it is not properly implemented. players have no real incentive to spend the effort to create, maintain(in public settings[grief]), and use them.
their biggest strength imo(long trains with chests)are circumvented by the elytra and shulker system almost entirely.
I have little to offer in terms of big picture balance, however i ca offer tweaks that will at least restore a carts system from it's depreciated state.
IDEAS:
-Fix Coupling Mechanic (min carts coupled is usually 4+Furnace, this is also unreliable/prone to breaking)
-Longer Total Fueled Time / Expanded Fuel Storage
-Variable Speed
-Make Reliable... of course. this includes the minecarts being able to work without loading by players
-Cheaper Rails (Why?: nuggets instead of bars? because really, one bar per rail is a lot when you are making A TRAIN SIZED TRAIN RAIL)
-(optional) Better Furnace Minecraft Direction Selection(Why?: if a furnace minecarts speed is faster then the player they will not be able to catch up to it to adjust it).
-(optional) Kill Entities in High-speed Collisions(Why?: entities on your rail tend to mess up minecart physics)
