The new Mannequins look nice, but that's all they do. They are kill-able, they just stand there, and if you accidentally shove them out of place, it's not easy to get them back to their spot again.
If we're gonna use them as NPC's they should be able to have a few programmable behaviors so you can trust them to behave "right" even if something goes out of whack. I'll offer a few suggestions:
[LookAt:Player] will make them look towards the nearest player like any other mob. A variant would be [LookAt:Mob] to make them look at the nearest mob instead, or [LookAt:(direction)] to make them look at something specific.
[Home:(X,Y,Z)] will make them pathfind towards their specified home coordinates. Useful to keep them in a desired spot, even if they accidentally get shoved out of the way. Add on [TPHome:True] to make them teleport to their home coordinates if they truly can't pathfind there. With some Command Block magic, you could even make them shift between multiple home coordinates to create the illusion of a patrolling guard.
[Facing:(x)] will make them face in a specific direction, unless temporarily overwritten by other encoded actions, such as walking to their home coordinates, or looking at a player or mob.
[Pose:(define)] will make them stand with a specific pose, such as holding their arms outstretched like a zombie, or pointing one hand in a specific direction, etc.
[Action:(define)] will make them move in a certain way, such as swinging their main hand, or running from mobs.
