Minecraft is an incredible sandbox, but its systems often discourage players who want to live as nomads or go on long adventures. Right now, sleeping is tied directly to resetting your spawn point. This creates a problem: if you live far from world spawn and die while exploring, you are forced to respawn at spawn instead of continuing your journey. Not sleeping isn’t an option either, since phantoms punish players who try to skip rest.
A simple solution would be introducing a sleeping bag item. Sleeping bags would let players skip the night safely without resetting their spawn point. That way, death would feel like the result of player mistakes—rather than a punishment for exploring.
This feature would make adventuring much more enjoyable, since players could choose whether to commit to a spawn point or remain free-roaming. For those who want extra balance, another option could be a conditional way to reset world spawn (for example, while a special block is placed), but the sleeping bag would be the most fun and straightforward.
Overall, adding sleeping bags would give players more freedom in how they play, encourage exploration, and support a true nomadic lifestyle—without removing the challenges that make survival engaging.
These features would compliment older features/additions such as campfires and bundles, which feel like they want to lean into a more adventurous style, however this improvement can make them relevant during the late game, as well as the early one.
