    The slowness of the attack and the precision required for falling strikes seems to be sufficient balance already. I also just don't see people using maces excessively. 

    Can you give an example of it being unbalanced in Elytra combat? When I think of, for example, Hermitcraft 10 when Scar and Cub were hunting Joe Hills and he was trying to evade them using Elytra, thy were mostly attacking with bows. Maybe it's different if players choose to go head-to-head, but then I would assume they'd name weapons like in a duel.

    my personal opinion on maces is that its just not worth it to get in most non pvpcentric servers. alot more players are builders and really maces arent great without wind charges and elytra and feather falling. its too specific and niche.

    id much rather make maces into hammers and turn them into a multitool that can break everything quick; at the caveat that it doesnt drop anything. an object thay is both useful for builders and pvpers. ive been chased arpund a few times where id needed to have a shovel but only had a pickaxe. its a different kind of pvp usefulness with a non pvp use; more expands ur limits than changes how u play the game.
