In a similar vein to how you can strip logs and unwax copper blocks, mushrooms should be "strippable" to gain access to the texture that's usually exposed by having another block adjacent and then breaking said adjacent block. Though, this should be on a "per-sids" basis, unlike logs where it will remove the bark entirely. Also, this would change it so that (unless it was a naturally occuring mushroom or one grown by the player) the accidental placement of other blocks and then breaking of blocks next to mushroom blocks wouldn't expose the inside texture unless desired.
