I assume this change was made so that there will be no functional disparity between people who play with toggle sneak on and off. Toggle sneak was designed to be an accessibility setting, so it is a fair reason to want to make a change. Admittedly, this change does almost nothing to effect 90% of players, though for a small subset of people it will become one of the hardest nerfs to our playstyle in the game's entire history.

I can not express enough how crucial it has become for many of us in the trapping community that we are able to perform activities such as crafting, opening chests, and writing signs or in chat all without revealing our nametag to enemy players roaming the surface. It may be true that an invisibility potion will fully counteract this change, though in a UHC / battle royale type scenario, the time restraints commonly involved will render it almost impossible for players who wish to build a trap secretly to do so.

To restore parity between these two options without the involved negative impact to the trapping community in the latest snapshot's change, I suggest my own potential solution. A secondary sneaking keybind can be introduced. Players will have their original keybind set to regular, non-toggle sneak, and the new keybind will allow the player to toggle sneak. This will allow players who do not use toggle sneak to have the option to open their inventory / interact with other GUI while sneaking, and players who do use toggle sneak to remain unaffected.

What is Mojang's deal with removing GENUINELY useful "bugs", but ignoring bugs that don't have any use?
This feels like intentional game design choices, and dear oh dear are those some not great choices.

A server that I’m in is a small box and getting started you need toggle sneak to grind loot or your done for by other players removing this would mean a whole lot of gamemodes would be ruined

Like someone else's post I think it's not fair that you have to switch to toogle to enable a new feature, so we want to keep sneaking while opening chests and it would be cool for people who don't play toogle when you are sneaking if you open a chest or your inventory you keep sneaking and when you leave the chest if you press back sneaking before leaving the ui the game won't remove you from sneaking

Mojang’s recent decision to change the behavior of toggle sneak so that players no longer remain sneaked when opening their inventory is a step backwards in both gameplay flow and accessibility, and it absolutely deserves to be reverted. Previously, when players activated sneak toggle, they could confidently rely on their character to remain crouched regardless of opening the inventory, which was essential for survival situations, stealth mechanics, building on edges, and accessibility for players who rely on toggle rather than hold controls. This consistency made Minecraft smoother, because sneaking is not just a cosmetic action, it directly impacts safety by preventing accidental falls, hiding name tags during PvP, and maintaining immersion when building high structures or working near lava. By removing this, Mojang has unintentionally broken muscle memory developed over years and created unnecessary frustration, especially for disabled players who cannot hold down keys and depended on toggle being trustworthy. Imagine carefully crouching on a skyblock edge, opening your chest to grab blocks, and suddenly finding yourself unsneaked and one misclick away from death—this is not fun design, this is unfair punishment for a problem that never existed. The community never demanded this change, and calling it a “fix” ignores the fact that the old behavior was actually the correct one for accessibility and game logic. Mojang has always championed player choice

Didn't even notice this change happened! Please revert it, it's so useful for secret bases and also just for accessibility purposes too, while also not being overpowered in any way. It removes a dimension of gameplay for next to no reason other than saying that a bug was "fixed". I definitely agree with the ideas in this forum page here. Hoping we can revert the change, please Mojang! <3

If you really want to remove the difference between toggle sneak on and off, make it so if you're sneaking and open a GUI, you stay sneaking

Crazy this was even a "bug" in the first place

There is also a toggle sprint bug. when you open gui, open chat or hit esc it untoggles your sprint. you have to press ctrl every time you open a gui. that wasn't like this before.

I completely understand why Mojang would remove this bug as at first glance it seems to make things unfair for some players. But when thinking about this more this really isn't true. I personally believe that this "bug" has been with us so long and many players have gotten so used to it thinking that it was a designated feature that it would be wrong for Mojang to remove it now. I understand that at this point there aren't too many people backing this movement but what I want to ask you Mojang is, are there really any people who want this "bug" fixed and if so why?
