Petition to Revert Toggle Sneak Change MC-163218

The ability to open containers while remaining crouched has been considered a feature by the community since Toggle Sneak was added back in 1.15. It has remained in the game for nearly 6 years, and in that time has become essential to some play styles. The feature is available to all players, so it's not an unfair advantage.

For instance, the Trapping community, who uses it to remain hidden while building traps underground in PVP scenarios. It's used for really just any PVP scenario where one would have to sneak around. Or even just to remain hidden in your secret base on your friends world.

This change retroactively nerfs this for seemingly no reason, it doesn't positively affect gameplay. Please don't implement this change.

    I thought it was already like that? When i enable toogle sneak i thought that i am still sneaking while opening gui's, when did mojang chance this?

    This is such a stupid change

    Why would it even be considered a bug? It makes logical sense that with toggle sneak you could sneak in guis

    I always thought this was a feature, im not sure why its still here if it wasnt intentional. Seems like a pretty easy fix, why was it not done years ago if they wanted it to be done?

    Such crucial things shall not be touched. The same happened with quite recent movement "fixes", which got the whole community upset, thankfully leading to reverting those. May this too be reverted to how it's always been and left in peace

    JudeLow here: This will kill trapping and stealth. There is litterally no reason to eliminate the very limited amount of stealth that exists in minecraft, especially with the locator bar coming out soon.

    Yes, removing toggle sneak in GUI does make it so people without toggle sneak enabled are on an "equal" playing field with those who have it enabled, but that is not the point of toggle sneak. I have and always will play without toggle sneak but I could enable it with the click of like 3 buttons at anytime. Its not a disadvantage to not play with toggle sneak in GUI, its being smart enough to TAKE advantage of an opportunity.

    Im a really casual player but this change is really bad, i tend to sneak around my friends house quite often just building secret bases and this ruins a large part of that and makes the game less fun for no good reason

    I really don’t understand why mojang would make this change in the first place. Why remove a feature from the game when it isn’t broken? Makes me wonder if the devs pay any attention to the player base at all.

    I may not play on java yet I play on bedrock but I know how much you guys need this because I love this feature for bedrock edition and if they removed it from bedrock id feel the same pain you guys are having so im here voting for you guys to get this feature back

    most people that trap on uhc servers would quit trapping because of easer trap greiffing this would make there be no trapping community

    A: Toggle sneak should not be affected by anything and
    B: the fact that we see nametags trough blocks makes no sense as a feature; specially now that we have the player radar; and the player radar should also get obfuscated when we sneak.
