I'm excited as anyone to get the long-awaited copper tools, but to me it does feel a bit unexciting that they're not much more than just another set of tools. I've always loved that copper has primarily been a material for utility and building, so I think it would be fitting to have copper equipment stand out from other tools in terms of looks.
As an example, the copper pickaxe could instead be a copper (sledge) hammer. It would have the exact same functionality as a pickaxe, but now we can use it to dress up smithing or steampunk related areas. The shovel could be a copper spade or trowel, the hoe could be a copper pitchfork or sickle, and the axe could be a copper saw or hatchet. All of these would be wonderful unique options for builders that might want to incorporate them using item frames or armor stands!
For the sword, I would also suggest a copper sabre or gladius, as a nod to the many bronze-age leaf shaped swords that are often kept in their weathered green condition.
These are just what I could come up with, so I'm sure there are many more ways to approach this. With this change, copper tools could fill a very unique niche that no other item fulfills, giving players a reason to craft it outside of the early progression stages. In any case, I hope you consider this feature suggestion!
