Current Issue:
In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, when the player hosting the world (the host) disconnects, the entire world shuts down, kicking all other players out. This disrupts gameplay, forces everyone to restart, and may cause progress loss if no backups exist.
Proposed Solution:
Add a "Passive Host Mode" feature that allows:
-
Leaving Without Closing the World:
-
The host can exit the game without disconnecting other players. Their character disappears, but the world remains active on their device (or via cloud sync, if possible).
-
The host can set a time limit (e.g., 1 hour, until all players leave, or "indefinitely" if their device stays on).
-
-
Remote Management Interface:
-
Upon exiting, the host sees a menu with options like:
-
View who’s still online.
-
Force-close the world if needed.
-
Transfer host privileges to another player (to avoid dependency on their connection).
-
Adjust settings (e.g., save the world or change game rules).
-
-
-
Reconnection Support:
-
The original host can rejoin later (if the world is still active) without interrupting others.
-
Benefits:
-
Longer Sessions: Friends can keep playing even if the host leaves.
-
Flexibility: Perfect for collaborative survival worlds or long-term projects.
-
No Realm Required: A free alternative for players without dedicated servers.
Technical Notes:
-
Could work over LAN or Xbox Live.
-
On mobile/consoles, the world might persist while the app runs in the background (with performance limits).
