When a dropped item touches a cactus and gets destroyed, it currently disappears silently. This can confuse players, especially new ones, who may wonder, "Where did my item go?" Adding a distinct sound effect when an item is destroyed by a cactus would solve this in several ways:
Benefits:
-
Clarity: Players will immediately understand that the cactus destroyed the item.
-
Feedback for new players: It reinforces the unique item-destroying mechanic of cacti through sound, not just visuals.
-
Accessibility: A new subtitle like
Item destroyedcould be shown when the sound plays, helping players who rely on subtitles.
Bonus: Use the Same Sound for Deleting Items in Creative Mode
Currently, when you delete an item by dragging it into the trash icon in Creative Mode, no sound is played at all. Adding the same cactus destruction sound here would:
-
Provide satisfying auditory feedback.
-
Create consistency with how item deletion sounds elsewhere.
-
Avoid confusion (especially since items like netherite don’t burn in lava — so a burning sound would’ve been misleading).
The destruction sound could be a distorted or "reversed" version of the classic "item plops" sound (the sound that plays when picking up an item), but modified to include a sharp, prickly texture — like an item hitting cactus needles.
Summary:
This small change would add polish, clarity, and logic to an existing mechanic—especially helpful to newer players and those using accessibility features.
