Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Up the amount of Stairs from stair recipe

So I have been bothered by this factor for a very long time, and by math it feels like we are wasting wood. Why is it that 6 wood makes 4 stairs when a single stair is only 3/4 of a plank. We should indeed be getting back 8 stairs instead of 4.

Otherwise there needs to be something like a stone cutter but for Wood, a wood cutter to help us properly save on wood like we do with stone with a stone cutter instead of using stone recipes which wastes things.

There are plenty of things that a woodcutter could save on with making such as Fences Gates, Plank types and so fourth, it would be nice to have more designs like stone does.

    Yeah, it just makes sense.

    Take a quarter out of every plank, and you have six quarters, arrange the quarters into two sets of three, and you have eight stairs.

    For now until this maybe gets added I'd suggest using a datapack to make it that way, that's what I do anyway.

    I understand the sentiment, but I don't think that they would go higher than six from the recipe. I think, looking at the recipes available, that they don't want players to be able to build higher simply because they crafted a recipe, and making the stairs recipe give 8 would violate that. However, take this comment with a grain of salt. I do not work at Mojang. Maybe it is just a case of correlation and not causation. Regardless, I think a wood cutter wood be an elegant solution. There are mods that added that very thing, so it is definitely feasible, and it's not unheard of for Mojang to see a good idea in a mod and add it to the game. I mean, just look at pistons.
