Calcite is a really nice block but currently it's not renewable; you just have to keep mining it from several amethyst geodes if you want to properly build with it. This is tough to do since the geodes are rare. But instead of just being able to craft it like many have wanted, I think you should be able to make calcite generators exclusively in amethyst geodes, made from lava touching budding amethyst blocks. This would be a great way to do it because it makes it so you don't to search endlessly for a good amount of calcite, but it also still encourages exploration since you probably want to use a few amethyst geodes just for farming amethyst, and another few geodes for farming calcite. This also makes sense with real life.
