The Gods of Balance were pleased with the addition of netherite and the idea of upgrading existing tools. However, they could not help but feel like there is room for further potential - enter silver-steel (name subject to change)!
In the Nether you can extract gold, quartz, and since recently netherite scraps from the red rock as well as directly loot from generated structures. In the End, however, the rock holds no valuables or minerals. How dull! What if the End held its own mineral, such as silver or perhaps a fantasy material like netherite scraps?
My proposition is to give smithing table one more use by allowing the player to upgrade iron tools, weapons, and armour into silver-steel gear (name subject to change). Since the Elyctra wings are found in the End, and certain enemies fire arrows of levitation onto the player, I felt it would be appropriate for the End to also hold a light-weight mineral. Said mineral is dug up and combined with iron (or something moderately valuable) to make silver-steel, similar to how netherite scraps are combined with gold to create netherite.
Instead of having great power, the silver-steel tools are light and agile; tools break blocks at rapid rates and weapons attack at much greater speeds. Best of all, it is very durable! I want there to be a trade-off between using strong and durable tools which are generally slower but can break the hardest of blocks, and between using very quick tools to excavate large areas of "normal" blocks.
