I was thinking a fun change would be to upgrade arrows and bows at the fletching table. technically flint arrows are made by default crafting, so using an iron nugget, gold nugget, or bone could change the damage properties or flight of the arrows. Upgrading bows and crossbows a similar progression idea as other tools with draw speed being the bigger focus. adding a scope to a crossbow though would be an awesome upgrade to deal with piliager towers.

All kinds of crafting composite bows, installing sights and winches on a crossbow are the functionality of a workbench.
Fletching involves highly specialized interaction with arrows. For example, the creation of arrows that drop when the target dies (hunting); arrows with a half-moon tip for small targets (hitbox increased); Arrows made of alternative materials, where the plumage is made of leather, and the tip is made of a fragment of amethyst.

yes that's a good idea although it would make more sense to do it with a crafting table

Maybe something similar to the stonecutter where it allows you to make items that are already craftable at a cheaper cost.
