As we're seeing less popular armor sets being given niche uses (gold being used in the nether, leather boots for snow), I have naturally come up with a couple of ideas regarding chainmail! Firstly, I think you should be able to craft it. While it makes the most sense to be able to craft it with chains, I think using iron nuggets for the recipe helps justify the low protection you get from it better, as iron nuggets are easier to obtain. Finally, I think you should be able to combine chainmail armor with other armor in a smithing table! This would grant maybe an extra half armor unit per piece? To offset this, perhaps there's a debuff involved, like a slight slow to movement speed or something like that. Not too much to be annoying, but enough to be noticeable. This would be groundbreaking and add a lot of depth to the armor meta! Maybe the combined armor could be called Studded Armor, as a nice reference to one of the removed items from the early days of Minecraft?
