I have a suggestion for 2 purposes, 1 is for it to be combined with bows and crossbows so they can be scoped, and in parity with Java edition, you should be able to hold them in the off-hand slot in Bedrock edition.

If possible, spyglasses should temporarily increase the render and simulation distance of the area you're looking at, when zoomed in to the max. It'd also be great if you can zoom even further.

Scoped crossbows with spyglass is a common idea in the community that would be cool to have!

Spyglasses could also fit very well in shipwreck loot chests, but do make them very rare. Copper and amethyst have limited uses already, if spyglass is easily obtained, that's one less reason to seek these materials.

I like them a lot. But one problem: they make the screen seem bigger, but they don't actually help see farther. i think they should load at least one chunk in front of you when used (but when done using, chunk is unloaded again).

(Edit) Plus they're great for pirate roleplays!

They should sometimes appear in chests in shipwrecks.

Could have his own enchants that allow mobs to be tagged for a moment, or one that shows the mob's name and the amount of life it has.

Allow us to put them on crossbows, not so we can retexture them into snipers, but it solves the main problem of the crossbow: accuracy.

The render distance on realms needs to be extended otherwise the spyglass doesn't really have a use when you can only see 4 chunks.

The texture should be changed to be purple and orange so it matches the fact that it's made of copper and amethyst.

I think there should be an achievement where crafting and using a spyglass unlocks it. The reward would be a new character creator cosmetic called the spyglass monocle, which has the front of the spyglass placed on the eye, like a face item.

The spyglass can be hard to use sometimes, as the midground and foreground scenery often gets in the way for me. The first thing that came to my mind would've been having the ability to change the level of zoom with the scroll wheel while left clicking with the spyglass in hand. I think this tool is a crucial quality of life change that would make the spyglass more versatile and less static.

I would love if it gave you mob states when looking at them.

I LOVE this new item, but have a MAJOR request. It is just an idea as of now:

NEW ENCHANTMENT: Zoom T1-TX (X= What ever the devs/mods decide)

Each Level of Enchant Upgrades the max zoom by 25% (May change depending of Dev/Mod ideas) One way it might change is it could be +50% but only have one Tier. It might also be a 10% Increase but have 5 tiers. or +25% (as first stated) but have only two Tiers of enchants.

Leave your ideas relating to this below, but pls Tag my name so that 1: I know, and 2: others can see that you are talking of my idea. If your comment relates to a comment of my idea, then direct it towards the comment maker, NOT me.

Have a great day everyone, enjoy testing out 1.17Pre3 (and any more Pre snapshots to come)

I love it! It would be very helpful on multiplayer worlds on bedrock so you can see who’s sneaking up on you better. I’m always jealous of the Java players that don’t have to go through all of their settings to zoom in.

Until the inventory hopefully improves and gets an overhaul, there's just not enough space to conveniently use the spyglass. I think adding a hotkey the player can press to use the spyglass when it's anywhere in your inventory would be a major benefit to the item.

Currently modded zooms do the same thing, and it makes it super convenient.

You should take some minor damage when looking directly at the sun through the spyglass OR be blinded for a short time.

When ever the spyglass is used the leaves have a different texture whenever they are first loaded. It would be a lot nicer on consoles and computers if leaves would have a consistent texture. (I don’t know if this was intended). I am on Minecraft PS4 edition.

I would like to have the movement speed of the spyglass to be somewhere around 10% faster, as when I move the mouse it barely moves at all, and I wish the sensitivity of the spyglass would be a bit higher so I can move around more quickly

The spyglass could use a few tweaks to make it more relevant to gameplay, I'm listing several that I've heard mentioned multiple times on and off the forums that I think would be good potential additions:

1 - some kind of enchantments to add to the use: revealing invisible entities, providing a universal spectral effect, etc

2 - allow further rendering and/or some way to change zoom, so it provides more information than the default player vision

3 - some kind of hotkey or more easily accessible method of use while otherwise keeping current toolset

    Fun Easter egg idea:
Nearby parots will immediately try to sit on your shoulder when you use the spyglass
+ you will get the advancement "yarrr" / "A pirate's life for me" when this happens

Add an option to have the spyglass zoom be a toggle instead of a hold

I think it is a great thing for bedrock player so they can zoom into things two maybe the should more you can do with the spyglass like enchanting it with ultra zoom or something more you can do with it is you can find it in a ships under water (1 in 500 chance). And have it to be crafted with a cross bow so can snipe mobs

Allow to put them on top of crossbows to make us wanna find them more and make the spyglass go away with the crossbow so you have to make and or find more copper and amethyst shards (also maybe allow us to make them different colors with different stages of copper)

I would suggest to add an armor slot for the spyglass so that you could use the spyglass with a hotkey and not have it take up space in your inventory.

What if when you use the spy glass to look at the sun you start taking damage. That would be hilarious.

I noticed that when I was trying to map out a map that was scaled out using the cartography table, it took forever, as the radius it mapped it around me was very small in comparison. But this is a niche the spyglass would perfectly fit into.

The spyglass would fit perfectly as an exploration/mapping tool. My suggested change is that while holding a spyglass and a map in both hands, your mapping radius would be 2x as large or even 3x. This would make mapping with and without an elytra a much faster and less tedious process.

I would like for the spyglass to be able to combine with the crossbow to create a scoped crossbow. This could be done utilising the smithing table. I think this is a very cool and unique idea plus it would help with the accuracy of the crossbow. When firing a bow it zooms in making it easier to aim with but a cross bow does not have that and having a scoped crossbow would solve it. I would also like it if there was a button or a key that you could press to use the spyglass when it’s in your inventory as that is what most mods do. Right now if I wanted to use the spyglass it would take up one precious hot bar slot and I feel that it is a waste when I can have something more important in it. So having a key to use the spyglass when it’s in your inventory would be much appreciated.

I think that to make the spyglass more useful, a simple and natural / expected thing to happen would be for the map to be filled out more further in the direction that you are looking through the spyglass in. only as far as you can actually see. maybe double the current distance of ~128 blocks to be able to reveal things in a cone/wedge to a distance of ~256 blocks.

this would lead to a gameplay where when one goes off on adventures with a map and a spyglass, and actively uses the spyglass to help fill out the map.

ideally large mountains blocking your view would prevent the map from being filled out but i understand that this would make the programming more difficult, as would making the world render further out when you use the spyglass. however I think both of these things are maybe not too difficult and would be good additions to gameplay.

I think the idea of being  able to add a spyglass and a crossbow. Inside the fletching table.

Making a scoped crossbow and giving a use the the fletching  table.
