I do think the budding amethyst could maybe be a bit less hard to work around/with, for both technical and casual players. I think it could be changed without getting rid of the concept of amethyst only growing where the geode was. Personally, I want to keep the nice look of my geode but I also want to be able to farm the crystals, but I end up obstructing the budding amethyst when I build in it. I posted a suggestion about how I think it could be done and only now realized there is a thread

Add renewable calcite and tuff! These are great blocks that are unfortunately non-renewable and thus unusable in bigger survival builds.

Personally, I've seen at least 3 by now and I've just booted up the game 10 minutes ago. I don't know why but most of them are found underground.. Apart from that, the structure is amazing!

I noticed that many new players break budding amethyst blocks, not realizing that it's a different important block. They don't know that you're not supposed to break these. I recommend increasing the blast resistance and hardness of the block significantly, making it harder to break, so that players know it's a different block.

Molly Oliver I agree that budding amethysts should be very difficult to break. They should also not be destroyed when pushed with pistons, but instead just not move, or something. Mob spawners don't collapse when pushed by pistons, they just don't move, so why are budding amethysts different?

You should be able to silk touch the budding amethyst.

Big geodes that the player when enters it can explore them like a small cave

The Geodes seem a little too common in my opinion (I made a new world, and immediately found one at the bottom of a river. I've found 3 others already, and I only started a day or two ago). Combined with how few uses the Amethyst shards have, it makes them practically worthless.

However, the Geodes are also the only way to get Calcite. If the Geodes are as common as they are so that people have a better source of it, then they should have an alternate way of getting it so they can make the Geodes less common.

    Geodes should generate deeper underground.

Geodes look fine overall, but the Amethyst cluster texture looks too childish. It is too perfect. Come one, amethyst is a natural formation, so it must look wilder. I understand that you try to develop a game for all ages, but this game is not only for 5 year olds!

Honestly, I feel amethyst shards should replace lapis in the crafting table, and give lapis some new craftable blocks like lapis bricks. Amethyst fits the enchanting theme better than lapis, it just seems more magical with the purple, and the geodes and all that, atleast more than a random blue ore you find.

Since in real life amethyst is a type of quartz, it would be nice if amethyst could be crafted into "polished amethyst block" and then into a purple version of all the quartz decorative blocks. It'd also add some more use to it

    Hear me out:

    -Mega Geodes-

A geode big enough to build a house in, (up to 60 blocks in diameter).

This would be a rare structure but a truly special find.

I think that it would be cool to have more geodes color variaties like:

Gold Amethyst geodes (which are colored in golden, glistening yellow colors)

Salt amethysts geodes (white colored geodes). They could also be used to make salt, if you drop and anvil on them.

Make them more rare? I also feel like they have not much use, however they are pretty. Maybe it could be used for a type of light source because it glows a bit? Dunno but just a use or two for amethyst would be nice

Amethyst really needs more uses, perhaps it can be added to the crafting recipe for End Crystals, or maybe it can be used to make some new item other than the Spyglass.

I would like amethysts to be used to make goggles just to see invisible blocks that have no colission until they are seen by those amethyst ender-eye crafted goggles. Or they could be used to detect ores in caves, if you craft each goggle with a specific ore that locates that specific ore.

I know it is 2+ features extra but its just an idea I had. Mabey in 1.20 update.

I feel amethyst should have some fun "magical/fantasy" uses. Maybe it can be used to create a crystal ball item that can be decorative or an object used by witches you can find in witch's huts. The crystal ball item  can provide low level, early game enchantments by just right clicking with a tool/weapon. Just make the early game a little less grindy.

I ADORE the geodes, I really want more uses for the actual crystals that grow on them now, I want more items or blocks to craft for them, either decorative or useful!

What about another special type of glass with a subtle crystaline texture like the crystal blocks themselves? You could dye it other colors as well, I think it would be a unique decorative block with a ton of uses and would make people really want to go geode hunting!

Here's my criticism of the item: Amethyst is borderline useless. It's incredibly niché, I doubt people are going to find a geode and be like "Woow a super rare geod, now I can make cool black glass". Here are just some random ideas of what I would do with Amethyst:

A redstone component that reacts depending on the weather?

What about an Amethyst crystal block that will absorb the light level that it is exposed to forever? (similar to how magma blocks once worked)

What about a potion made from amethyst power (formed when an anvil drops on an amethyst block) that can give the player an "amethystic" aura ability to scare off light intolerant mobs? (Like zombies)

What about being able to add some Amythests to boots with the Smithing table, which would grant those boots 1 (and only 1) safe fall from any height, the addon would break after and the player would have to add it again. It doesn't make SENSE but it gives the item some use that inspired enthusiasm and excitement when we find a geode.

Amethyst is a crystal, so much what it could do might be related to light, and obviously the suggestions above are just random ideas that I put 10 seconds of thought into so please don't assume these are serious suggestions, just ideas, intrinsic reasons to be excited when you find a geode, giving it uses and making it worth the dangerous trip of finding them.

Amethyst could be used to make a special block that detects and gives off a redstone signal based on light level.

Budded amethyst should be piston push-able while remaining  unobtainable with silk touch this will make early to mid game amethyst collection still balanced while late game farming will be less annoying but still keeping it balanced to obtain. Budded amethyst should take a bit longer to mine so players don't accidentally brake it when speed mining out the calcite and amethyst blocks.

It would be useful if geodes could be located with the /locate command like other structures.

Maybe tweak what levels geodes generate at. They should feel rare to find, and I've encountered quite a few exposed geodes in biomes like shallow oceans(the ones that are made of sand, dirt and clay). Tweaking what levels they generate at by even about 10 blocks or so could help. Also a few more uses for amethyst would be nice as well.

Amethyst could be used to create magic staffs, which will finally introduce magic in the game, a feature that fits well in Minecraft's theme, that many players have been expecting. Minecraft Dungeons have Ice Wands and whatnot, we should be able to create our own magic characters in Minecraft too. A simple fire/ice/lightning magic system fits really well in current Minecraft, and adds more variety in combat, better than everyone spamming swords.

Give amethyst a better use, since playing on the 1.18 experimental snapshot I have had no desire to mine it because it is not a required mineral like diamonds and iron. It is also not an item people want to grab because it does not contribute to anything unlike Redstone which is the electricity system of the game, emeralds which is used for trading and lapis which is used for enchanting. Amethyst has no use in the game and should contribute to one of Minecraft's core mechanics so players would want to go out and mine it. Whether it be fishing, the fletchers table, the smithing table or a brand new system in the next update, just give it a somewhat useful reason to grab. The only useful thing amethyst can be used for in my opinion is tinted glass, but even then I don't really use that item. I played on a realm with about 8 people and no one ever went out of their way to mine amethyst.

When the next update comes out and the height and depth is increased on all worlds, please have them show up in old worlds even on previously explored seeds below the previous bedrock level. Allows the world to be explored more in familiar places. Thank you.

I think smooth basalt should also produce in the delta biome basalt and Calcite can appear in the mountains

    Make amethyst shards more uses,
Like amethyst lantern that scare creepers away or amethyst arrows that take more damage then regular arrows.
