They're beautiful! A rare, larger variant would be amazing. Perhaps large caves can rarely generate with crystals and amethyst blocks on their walls. Exploring these crystal caves would be amazing!

A method to create renewable calcite would be great! Renewability is very important in Minecraft worlds, especially console editions, even more so in multiplayer.

Copper and amethyst should have more uses. Perhaps to craft a chest that emits high light level?

I absolutely love them. Like gaspoweredpick said though, they're way too common. I flew around underground in spectator and saw at least ten.

The outer layer of amethyst geodes above the height y=0 should consist of tuff, and the outer layer of amethyst geodes below the height y=0 should consist of smooth basalt.

Amethyst needs way more uses. I can honestly players seeking out the geodes just to get calcite. Some ideas I had are:

Black Light that stops mobs from spawning without giving off actual light so you can make dark builds without creepers blowing it up.

Additional Status buffs on beacons by using amethyst blocks in the base like night vision or being able to change weather/time.

Crystal Knives/Daggers that can be thrown and not Enchanted as a late-game projectile.

The only thing amethyst has going for it right now is the best incredibly obscure tinted glass, which isn't that useful.

amethyst tools and armor, slightly better than netherite, full set of armor: gives speed effect in caves. crafte like regular armor but with diamonds/emeralds in the middlle.

Another use for amethyst could be jewelled armour. The gems would help individualize player armour. Crafting this armour could be another use for the blacksmith table.

It would consist of small gemstones in fixed places on any of the metal or diamond armours. Geodes could be expanded to include various colours for ruby, topaz, etc. Providing even more incentive to find these rare structures as a wearable status symbol.

Here are my thoughts about the geodes:

-The 21w19a geode distribution feels much more balanced; it's now truly special to find one.

-Smooth basalt, calcite, and amethyst are all great, but they need more variants to be the staples in building that they should be. Calcite should get stairs, slabs, and walls; and there should be a brick variant of these as well. Smooth basalt would look nice with stair, slab, wall, and brick variants, but since it's not unique to geodes that isn't as important. Finally, regular amethyst should have slab and stair variants. It should have a smooth variant (with slabs and stairs), and a smooth bricks variant (also with slabs and stairs). An amethyst column or chiseled amethyst block would also be great.

-I love the idea of incredibly rare geodes that are five or six times the size. They would make for an incredible find.

-Calcite, being both the most-sought-after and hardest-to-find block of the update, should get a crafting recipe. I think a recipe similar to diorite's, with amethyst shards replacing the quartz, would be nice.

-Naturally, amethyst needs more crafting recipes, but I'd expect those would come later down the road, and I'm fine with that.

dragongirl4378 Geodes aren’t that common really in Survival Mode because you have to accidentally mine into it or, even rarer, find an exposed one.

Translation to comment above: ‎I wanted it to have large amethyst caves, a crystal cave, but that was very rare, would be more interesting, and please add more utility to the amethyst, because only the glass and the spyglass is very little for the crystal, a thing so expected and will not be so used??? ‎
‎Please, we want more use for the amethyst!‎

geodes are way to rare only 1 every 10000 blocks or so

I think that amethyst geodes should be rarer than currently (referring to snapshot 21w20 level of rarity).

Also their spawn should be tweaked in regards with oceans because it is not uncommon to see the geode structure if you look at the ocean floor.

So prismarine is one of those blocks that should be natural but aren’t, so my idea is that at the bottom of aquifers you will sometimes see prismarine clusters of crystals. These would spawn on budding prismarine blocks, and would drop a certain amount of prismarine shards and/or amethyst crystals, which could be used to craft blocks which contain prismarine in their recipe.

So this is future me, now this idea might actually be coming to the game. So in the Hidden Depths DLC trailer for minecraft dungeons, light blue crystals appear in the shape of amethyst.

I would love to see more ways to use them like what if they could be use for more rare enchantments or make stronger enchantments. We could also make more stuff like with 2 ender Pearl top corner and 3 amethyst block as bottom and for rest to be filled some thing from the end to make 1 portal. But if you make 2 or more you can fast travel between them. And I do realize you can not make amethyst blocks but would be cool they add that for it and as deceptive.

I posted the idea but thought I should live a comment here too. It would be cool to have calcite have a red tint when it is close to neather portal or ender chest particles to show how calcite glows under a UV light.

I hope the team considers making calcite available in larger quantities. I really like the idea of super rare caves or "extended geodes", like an inverse ore vein, about the size and length of the old cave tunnels. Something like that could yield a couple of stacks of calcite, in addition to being an incredible, base worthy find. Even a super rare Geode that is twice the size of normal ones would be neat. idk if generation already allows for that, but digging into one and plunking down a torch to discover a small cavern of Amethyst would be really cool.

A polished version of Amethyst called "Tumbled Amethyst". The texture would be like a tumbled and polished stone, smooth and banded with faint streaks of Calcite. This would set up polished versions of future precious stones added to the game, and is at least a little educational lol. You could even tumble the shards, or even diamonds, to give you cabochons if the team ever implemented socketed tools and armor or rings/amulets.

Amethyst clusters look great, I hope to see more clustered minerals. Especially something that looks like Selenite, in straight pillars. Or Quartz. Having Quartz geodes in the Nether would be very special, or at least the ability to place the Quartz item in builds. With Copper in the game, as obscure and niche as this is, we could see Copper Sulphate crystals (blue, spiky crystal growths. These could be a renewable source of blue dye).

    Feedback:

The Amethyst Geodes and Blocks are well made and can come up in various creativities.

However on a personal opinion, the uses of Amethyst is rather limited, only making more Amethyst blocks, a Spyglass and some Tinted Glass which that is it.

    Suggestions:

    • Using Tinted Glass on a beacon makes the beam 50% more transparant.
    • The ability for them to be used to repair any tool in an Anvil but only 33% as much as using the tool's original material. (E.g, Diamond Sword uses Diamond, using an Amethyst Crystal will only repair it 33% compared to a diamond)

I'm sure many people here have said this long before I did, but amethyst items definitely need more uses than just the spyglasses and tinted glass. For as common and as nearly limitless as they are, they really only serve to fill up inventory space.

Here are some of my suggestions to improve the usability of amethyst:

    - A Laser. Not the *pew-pew* kind, but the kind of lasers that act like tripwires or can relay redstone signals and can be used over very long distances with no delay to them. This may be a late-game item you'd craft using quartz / prismarine, redstone, and of course amethyst.

    - Crafting together diamonds, emeralds, and amethyst shards with gold nuggets all across the top can make Jewelry which can be sold to villagers for a hefty return of emeralds.

    - Like DarkStalkerMoon mentioned, Crystal Daggers/Knives would be an interesting use for amethyst shards. It would also be neat if these daggers/knives can be tipped with certain potion effects like arrows are. Maybe have this feature available only at the fletching table...?

    - Maybe generate Cave Villages under mountains that can trade amethyst for emeralds and whatnot. Or, maybe, add a new villager profession "The Prospector" that can trade amethyst and other mining related items for emeralds.

The list can go on and on, but there can be a multitude of uses for amethyst other than what's already there.

I personally think amethyst is useless at the moment. I think some better uses such as armor, weapons, modifications to items, and more uses similar to those would make them seem better. I also think we need a goblin village/camp where there is a goblin leader and different types of goblins such as archer goblins, spear goblins, and goblins that sit at towers defending there village would be cool. I get we are getting The Warden but I feel that you don't gain anything from killing it. Anytime I kill a boss I want some use to the item it drops but The Warden has no purpose in killing it. I also feel that part 1 of Caves and Cliffs has an hour of new content until you run out of things to do and make. I don't want to be running around in caves with no purpose. I want to be running around in caves to see new structures and new ores for armor. You might tell me to go play mods but I shouldn't have to go download a mod just so I can get better armor.

I think adding a large amount of amethyst crystals to a weapon or armor can make that item better or stronger.

The new calcite, tuff and amethyst blocks are great building blocks, but they are limited in their usage by not having slab and stair variants.

Make a crafting recipe for calcite. I would like one that is a 2x2 grid with diorite and nether quartz. It is similar enough to already existing recipes for stone variants, and provides the player with lots of a really nice looking block.

What if in larger geodes there were unique mobs that were overtaken by the amethyst or something that would attack the player. It would be neat to add a challenge to the geodes instead of just going in, taking the amethyst and leaving. An idea I had for a mob was maybe an overtaken zombie, skeleton or silver fish.
