Gold ore veins

Gold ore veins similar to the new copper and iron. It could only spawn in desert biomes, and could have a variant of sandstone around it

    Too overpowered. Plus we already have a ton of gold in the world from the nether.

    Maybe gold veins should spawn in the mesa biome instead, replacing the current gold generation in that biome. Mineshafts are built to follow veins. That would be a good reason for there to be so many mineshafts in that biome.

    This isn't overpowered as the only reason we have so much gold is because of Zombified Piglin farms which isn't related to mining. It suffers from the same problem as Iron golem farms as players opted to use them instead of mining for iron to keep up with the demands for large scale Redstone and iron hungry builds/crafts. With the portal farm/spawning nerfs coming, a large nether gold ore vein would offset this and also allow players who don't want to build farms to get lots of gold as farms might break or deprecate as mechanics change and updates happen.

    Maybe raw gold ore blocks can spawn in gold veins. Why else would we have this block in game.
