As Mojang likely knows, there are limits to the current datapack system, especially compared to the capabilities of the Mod Launcher Fabric. This post will contain some ideas for new features that datapacks could utilize, along with things that could make it any easier.
UI Elements
- Usable interface which you can program to utilize interfaces and detect for certain things, like moving a item to change pages, as such.
You could use this with template interfaces, like the double-chest, shulker and crafting table ui.
Custom Items/Blocks/Armor
- Resource Packs for textures, differentiation capabilties 'Vanilla' and Modded additions.
Mob Behavior
- Mimic bedrock 'Behavior Packs.'
World Generation and Dimension Support
- More advanced generation capabiltiies, better datapack structure support. Terribly sorry, I don't know how you could work with Dimension Support.
In total, this will allow creators to make more advanced content for Java Edition. Please let me know if this doesn't fit certain/any aspects of the game, or if the Mojang team doesn't like the idea. Bye! :)
