An item that you can acquire in survival, but is also useful in creative mode, that can help you measure out builds. This could be especially helpful when trying to line up or measure out particularly large builds; it will help you to avoid making any simple but devistating mistakes, as well as eliminating the time consuming task of placing out blocks one by one to make sure you are in line with another build.
It would work by placing the beginning of the tape on a block. Then, as long as you are still holding the tape, you can move around freely and a line will always go from you to the block that you initially placed it on. It could also possibly display information such as the X,Y,Z coordinates in reference to where the tape is placed. For example if you moved 201 blocks in the X direction away from where you placed the tape. It would display "+201, 0, 0." Or to simplify it further, it could just tell you how many blocks away from the tape you are, for example if you moved 400 Blocks in any direction then it would simply display "400," and you could use the reference of the angle of the string to line up builds (similar to a real life level tool)
It could be crafted with string and another item, possibly iron.
This would be a fantastic item, and an extremely useful tool for builders in Minecraft.
