We have three different types of stone in Minecraft: Stone, Deepslate, and Blackstone. The problem is that blocks like Blackstone have the word "stone" in them, making it quite confusing. This issue will only get worse as Minecraft continues to add more and more stone variants. I think the solution to this is simple, rename regular stone to something more unique, anything that isn't just "Stone".
This only makes sense, seeing how it has been done in the past with the "fish" item, which was renamed to "cod" when more fish types were introduced. A name change like this would also be beneficial in that you no longer have to awkwardly say something like "regular stone" and can just say it by it's new proper name.
