I have been playing minecraft for a very long time now (bedrock and legacy editions mostly) and I have just recently tried the Java edition and I must say that the bedrock edition is at a major disadvantage especially the combat system. Before I get into it let me just say that the community is very two faced when it comes to comparing these two editions ( Java and bedrock) one side is heavy on saying “just buy a PC” and the other side just doesn’t care at all. The combat system that has been implemented into Java since 1.9 is an amazing combat system and should be added to bedrock and I’ve seen Jeb say that the combat wouldn’t work well on phones and would be tedious to use and same with controller, i think otherwise. Playing on controller with this combat system would work very well. I have got tired of brainlessly spamming the right trigger with a sword and another thing is why would you ever want to put sharpness on an axe in bedrock, it does one point of damage less than a sword, it costs more material to make when the sword is cheaper and does more damage. With the Java editions combat it makes axes useful being a tool that can not only chop down trees but also being a hard hitting slower weapon while the sword does less damage but can hit multiple enemies in one swing. And all of this requires you to be precise and quick to click (hopefully tap/press trigger) making more skilled players rewarded for being able to hit more consecutively.
