I love the "new" Light Block I've seen in the snapshot and am certain that I am not alone. It could be the lighting solution for big caves and a cure for torch-spamming. My pitch for a survival implimentation would be a new craftable tool: the glow spray (working title)
Recipe:
Leather - copper ingot - X
X - glow ink/glow berries - X
X - water bottle -X
It would work like flint and steel, placing a Light (lvl 15) instead of Fire.
Not enchantable, has durability.
For tuning the light level I imagine a Fan, which will also be the only tool to break the block.
Recipe: Version 1 (personal favourite)
Feather - Feather
Honeycomb - Feather
Recipe: Version 2
Paper - Paper
Stick - Paper
When holding either tool, you can see and interact with the Light Blocks. Using (right click) the spray on a dimmed Light Block returns it to lvl 15 and uses the durability as if a new block was placed. To place a Block against a Light Block you have to crouch. Using (right click) the Fan on a Light Block lowers the light level by one. When dimming a lvl 1 Light block, the block breaks. Breaking (left click) with the Fan destroys the block fast but not instantaneus.
