    I'm the first to comment!

I think the axolotls are amazing. They fill an important niche but don't render dogs obsolete. There are two problems, though:

    1. The mob's movements are kind of jerky and don't look quite right, especially its transition from the horizontal to the upright position.

    2. This will probably be changed later, but right now axolotls can spawn in oceans, rivers, aquifers, and most other bodies of water. They should be a feature exclusive to lush caves. In the livestream, the most exciting feature of the lush caves were the axolotls, but having them spawn anywhere would completely take away from the uniqueness of the lush caves.

Edit: Okay, with the Caves and Cliffs split, it definitely makes sense to add them to regular underground bodies of water. But it might be a good idea for glow squids and axolotls to spawn separately more often--every time I find an underwater pool, all there is is an axolotl and several glow ink sacs.

Edit 2: After playing around with axolotls more in survival, I've noticed that their movements can be very jerky when they're kept confined. When they're in a shallow pool of water, they often start the "moving upright" animation, only to jerk back down a fraction of a second later. This makes it look like it's having a seizure, so it would be great if it could be fixed.

As of right now I believe this is very well done, but I do wish the playing dead animation could look a bit better, but other than that everything seems very well done.

As a Axolotl Owner IRL There should be a Melanoid [Black] variant of the Axolotl. It has red gills, black skin, and no mouth texture

Love them! But they should only spawn in lush Caves like you said they would in 2020. Maybe you could add a "Skulksoltl" that generates in the deep dark that feeds on the skull growth!

There should be WAY more glow lichen underwater where the axolotls spawn. They are this bright, cheerful mob, and it doesn't make sense that they spawn in pitch-darkness.

Lastly, tropical fish should generate in the Lush Caves, as they are the Axolotl's food source.

I don't like that I have to hold in the main, or left hand, slot with a bucket of tropical fish for my axolotls to follow me. It would be more convenient if they followed me if I wore a turtle shell.

Axolotl's should just be tamable like dogs, cats, and parrots. Their attack and follow and taming mechanisms are just too confusing at the moment.

Axolotls should be tamable with a tropical fish, instead of the confusing "tempt" mechanism of real life. I am NOT saying other passive mobs should be tamable. But because of the fact that Axolotls are kept as pets in real life and because the devs are going in this direction anyway, we should just make them tamable like other utility mobs.

Axolotls should only teleport to a player when they are underwater.

Tamed Axolotls should naturally follow the player.

You should be able to make them sit.

Wild axolotls should prioritize attacking fish mobs like tropical fish before hostile ones like drowned and guardians.

To the people saying that Axolotls should only spawn in the lush caves, that’s exactly where you’re going to find them. The way they’re spawning right now is temporary and is most likely going to change once the lush caves are fully implemented.

Like another post above mentioned, axolotls should still be contained to spawning in lush caves. It makes sense, as that is a habitat where the axolotls could conceivably exist and flourish. In regards to their spawn areas, axolotls should spawn in patches of coral ponds/rivers located within the lush caves. That would make for a really cool and atmospheric sight, and would entice players to find these unique areas where axolotl spawns are guaranteed. Axolotls may spawn in other bodies of water within the lush caves, but these coral environments are a sure place to go for players looking to recruit these adorable pets!

There needs to be an indicator for when they are drying out. Like being lighter in color or something.

2 things: 1, I think that they should spawn in any cave biome except for the deep dark, and 2, they should be attracted, tamed and bred with any fish.

    1. Axolotls should spawn naturally only in Lush Cave

    2. The Traveling Merchant should rarely sell the Axolotl bucket as the rarest and most expensive offer.  Additionally, only one item can be purchased if there is an offer.

    3. Axolotls should heal to full health when they pretend to be dead and have a cooldown for this skill.

    4. Axolotls should not attack hostile mobs by themselves.

    5. Axolotls should have a long cooldown to remove mine fatigue as the ocean monument should not be easy to dig.

    6. The pale and orange Axolotls shown on Minecraft Live and the green Axolotl should be added.

We could use a new hostile underwater mob, giving more uses for an Axolotl army! Currently, there's only Drowned and more Drowned, it gets boring fighting only one water mob. How about a hostile fantasy crab, making Bane of Arthropods useful?

It'd be great if there's a new hostile underwater mob in the negative Y-levels. Deep underwater caves and oceans to explore, like the Mariana Trench in real life!

Overall, combat pets like Axolotl and Dogs are a very welcome addition! Many players enjoy taking them to adventures.

Here's a nice spice of life change, make the bucket of axolotl item match the color of the mob. EX: I catch a brown axolotl with a water bucket and I get a bucket of brown axolotl.

The Axolotls right now are really good! I've been testing their abilities in creative mode, and It's been really fun! My only issue, however, is that they're overpowered, I put a few on them against 7 Guardians, all the guardians died while no axolotls died, I feel like they should have their damage reduced, as their play dead ability makes them too powerful, so I feel like their attack power should be reduced to make it so that ocean monuments and other ocean threats aren't too weak.

I agree with the fact that they should be tamed. They must also however be bred with all kinds of fish, not just tropical fish. Also, they only do 1 heart of damage to guardians and drowned and other fish.

I think axolotls are a god adition but i think that you should make them available to underwater caves ONLY and not oceans and rivers, they ruin so many great farms like gardian farms, trident farms, squid farms, big fishing farms, etc, i think farm builders designers and users agree with me.

Because the caves are probably quite cold maybe the axolotl could also spawn naturally in snowy and other cold biomes?

I think they will be very great for raiding ocean monuments, love the varieties and how they can play dead.

I think there should be big ponds in lush caves they can spawn in, similar to the example at minecraft live. Currently, they only have thin ponds in lush caves and a lush cave will cut off an aquifer cave. Maybe a big underground lake of water could be added, with generation similar to the existing lava lakes. Currently the Water ponds exist, but these spawn as there own thing in smaller caves, so I think a bigger version would be nice too.
