As titled.
Currently, Bane of Arthropods' use is way too circumstantial. Spiders are already the weakest "standard" hostile out of Zombies, Skeletons, Spiders, Creepers.
- Consider that with Strength Potions+, and Iron Sword+Smite IV, we one-shot Zombies and Skeletons, or Spiders with Diamond Sword+Sharpness IV, giving them very little chance to do damage at all. Not creepers.
- Consider that all of these 3 monsters need multiple attacks to do the average damage a creeper will do to a player, when even one(!) slightly mistimed attack causes the creeper to detonate.
- Consider that creepers are just as common as the other 3 mobs, not less common. If players were supposed to account for them more than the others, they shouldn't be just as common. Like Endermen/Witches.
- Consider that therefor, with the other mobs affected by BoA encountered rarely, this leaves BoA obsolete.
The main argument against this will be "to prevent making it too easy to gain large amounts of gunpowder quickly". But considering creepers need only to explode once to not drop anything, still do damage, and still damage the terrain, that's not entirely sound. You retain the same result with reduced creeper damage(which isn't the case either), so that argument is too black-and-white. There are more options than "yes" and "no".
Enchanting a sword with BoA would be mostly for creepers, which is a higher investment for less reward than Smite/Sharpness. This is why it would be balanced and fair. Rename the enchant if needed.
