The New Light Block Should be Craftable, and Breakable in Survival

The new light block added in Snapshot 21w13a is an amazing addition to builders and I am grateful to have it in the game. However, I believe players in survival mode should also have access to this item. Players always have issues trying to find a light source that matches with builds, often times unsuccessfully, so the addition of the invisible light source would solve this issue. Another issue people are having is the idea of copper in general. Players don't necessarily see a great use to copper, other than for decoration. I have come up with a solution to both of these things.

 

The light source block should be crafted using 1 glow berry in the center of the crafting table, surrounded by 4 glass panes and 4 copper ingots. This recipe should yield only 1 block, since this is a very useful block to have. This solution will give players a need to want to gather copper, as well as giving Glow Berries a function.

 

This item should also be breakable in survival, by either punching it while holding the item, or with a designated tool. Either way, it needs to be breakable in survival, even if the crafting isn't added.

    How do Glow Berries, Glass, and Copper become invisible? I don't really like the idea of invisible blocks being obtainable in Survival. How, then, would you know that they're there? There are a ton of creative options in Minecraft; I've never heard of any body not finding a matching light source. Finally, I wouldn't call an ore that is not the most useful an issue. What's the issue in that? Quartz is an ore that is used primarily for decoration as well, and I haven't heard any complaints about it. Building is actually a huge part of Minecraft, even in Survival, and it looks like Copper would have quite a few uses aside from building (Lighting Rods, Spyglasses, potentially Brushes).

    This sounds great, but it's clear that this is meant to be a creative-only item, so it is very unlikely your suggestion will be added.

    Ziad El-Moursy I dont think it should be light blocks, but copper does need another use. Yes, Quartz IS mostly used for decoration, but the slightly toned-white is a lot more versatile than bright orange or green. Apart from steampunk-style builds, i don't see copper being used a lot.

    I support any reasonable post that adds another use to copper, but light blocks should be a creative-only item.
