Coins could be a cool new item to Minecraft, that doesn't replace emeralds. Stores could naturally spawn around your Minecraft world, but also, I think the shop could be an item you can place down that only players in creative could use. If you go into the shop, there can be a trade list, and at the top, it says "Shop". And all the trades should cost coins. You should get coins for doing things (Crafting, getting advancements, mining ores (The better ore, the more coins) etc...). And if you use to much coins on an item, you get change. This should be a game mode that can be toggled on and off in settings. The game mode should be called "Coins". It is a survival world, but with coins, and shops. (I think there should also be: to change to creative in The coins game mode, turn on cheats. Then type "/mode_of_money creative". And, same for every other game mode. Also, in adventure mode, there should be a higher chance of getting more valuables for less coins). That was my idea.
