Mining iron, gold, and copper should give you xp now if you are mining and it and getting the raw material like all the other ores.

  This is an interesting idea, but maybe you're forgetting that you already get XP when you smelt the raw ore, so this would be double XP. If this were implemented, I'd expect smelting ores to no-longer give you XP so you don't get it twice.

  You already get XP from smelting the raw minerals, so this might be too much.

  I mean, part of the reason this update is underway is because people should have more reason to go mining. However, getting benefits for other uses, such as enchanting, is not necessarily the point. The point of the update is to make caving/mining more exciting. All the same, more people would want to go mining.
