I agree with decreasing the time, but it should not be equal to Stone. I think that Stone should break Regular Stone at the same Speed that Iron Breaks Deepslate.

I mean, a huge part of the cave update is to make it about exploring for resources rather than just endlessly mining tunnels to get Diamonds. Even after the decreased air exposure, you can cover huge areas by just exploring (not a lot of breaking) as opposed to strip mining, so creating a tunnel won't really give that much more Diamonds compared to exploring in the deep, though you might want to use some TNT, which is quite fun. There are a lot more Diamonds and Gold in the deep, so it's really a matter of trade-offs.

As I said in the other thread, Ziad, caves REDUCE resource quantity. Yes, they make a small amount visible more quickly, but mining is and always will be superior to caving for finding resources.

I agree with this. I understand that the mindset of the devs may have been that, since it has higher blast resistance than stone, it ought to have higher hardness. I get that, but I disagree for two reasons.

    1. Mining deepslate already comes with the same negative factors as granite, andesite, or diorite might, which is that it takes up inventory space at a higher rate than mining just stone would.
    2. I think having deepslate retaining its blast resistance would be good. I think the inconvenience this puts on people who might use TNT to mine is plenty to balance it in the long run, as its slightly higher blast resistance is ultimately not going to be used by most players.
