So, I am a huge fan of the cave portion of 1.17 so far. The caves look spectacular, ores are easier to find, and I personally love the fact you can go below y = 0. The main issue I have with it so far is the accessibility of these new caves. Whenever I play the snapshots, none of the tunnels that generate on the surface ever lead down very far. They always dead end before you can find anything really interesting. The surface water caves do an alright job of this, but again, there's no way to get farther down that what's already generated (at least in my experience). There's the caverns it occasionally generates and that's it. Even looking around in spectator mode, all the huge caves (especially the deepslate caves) are completely disconnected from any tunnels leading to the surface.
(Yes, you can technically dig to find these caves, but in this update, when digging randomly to find a cave is more dangerous than ever, it shouldn't be the only way you're able to find them.)
Bottom line is, the new cave generation in this update is spectacular, but when it's the focal point of the update, it should be at least a little easier to find in survival mode.
