Give copper more uses besides being a building block.

Being an ore you have to mine and smelt 4 of it to make a building block is far too inefficient for a building block that rather doesn't look appealing enough. Quartz doesn't have this issue, since you can get the item without smelting + you can multiply its' amount with fortune picks + it gives white colored blocks, that can fit in far more builds than the orange/cyan colored copper.
We need more incentive to actively explore the caves in order to find the newly added copper, it desperately needs more uses.

    During Minecraft Live, they actually mentioned that Copper will come in Ore Veins instead of blobs like other ores. So when you find some Copper, you would often find it in huge amounts, to my knowledge. Copper is also a very special building block. It has this oxidizing factor, which makes it very unique. Quartz often just looks like White Concrete from far away. I'm not saying Quartz is bad, not at all, but from my perspective Copper is far much more appealing compared to Quartz. Quartz might blend in well, but Copper gives a lot more creative potential.

    Cut Copper looks cool. And when it oxidizes it works really well with prismarine.

    (But I agree it should have more uses... especially with redstone).

    I really don't think they will add any more uses for copper right now, but instead do what they did with iron, and give it more uses in following updates.

    Maybe copper should be used to make new redstone components such as hoppers
