I think, because the Warden seems like a husk of a body being controlled by a strange growth. Then it'll make sense if that Strange Growth a.k.a the Sculk. Can also infect other living things. It can for example infect any mob depending on how long the mob has stayed on top of a Sculk Growth block. Like, after 3-5 minutes, the Mob will start to shake (like that transformation animation for zombies) after a few days. If left unchecked, at Night the transformation into a sculk zombie will be completed. Even the player will turn. How? The player in this case will have the effect visible in their screens if they don't treat themselves with a cure after that at night, they will be "/kill"-ed and a sculk zombie will spawn on the spot where they died, it will be carrying the original host's items. And it will roam around killing everything in it's path with the other infected mobs. In this case, the cure will be... Going through a portal. If the player or an infected mob is in the Nether dimension, then they will get the infection status effect cleared. And they can go back to their houses safely. I just think, this is a good way to teach about infectious diceases in Minecraft, For example: You tested positive for a certain disease, Then you will have to self-quarintine (in the nether). After you came back negative, then you can go back home. Also i'd suggest for if any sculk type block or entity will instantly vaporize in the nether. Just like Undead mobs at day time.
