There should be a bit more incentive for a survival player to take the trouble of going in the dripstone caves. In long term worlds, people would eventually have done exploring and would come to the caves for just the main reason, that it to collect ores. Dripstone caves are really dangerous to traverse so there should be a bit more reward. I think more exposed iron will be the best thing.
1. It is very important survival resource
2. As while mining diamonds you won't get as much iron, there should be an other way of getting iron alongside. Mining at the iron specific y-level would be lame.
3. In huge dripstone caves the player would have to scaffold its way everywhere to get the iron in walls and ceiling and that would would increase the risk of falling on stalacmite even more, so it definitely won't be over-powered
