Axolotl’s stay in their infant stage forever technically and while they do not turn into a different species of salamander when given iodine they do mature and look like other species of adult salamanders. For the sake of fantasy it would be cool if when fed kelp which is heavy in iodine axolotl‘s turned into tiger salamanders. Tiger salamanders could be less water dependent and while they may be slower than the axolotl’s in water and also not as quick as other mobs on land they will be able to defend the player in similar ways the axolotl does in water but on land and water, just less effectively.
